This website is dedicated to the men that served in the 8th Ordnance Company, Direct Support, during the Cold War. Our unit was headquarted at Mansfield Kaserne, near the city of Straubing, West Germany with detachments in Landshut and Regensburg.

This site is also dedicated to the servicemen and women that answered their nation's call and made the ultimate sacrifice. We will never forget them nor the sacrifices they made on our behalf.

The 8th Ordnance Company, Direct Support reported to the 71st Ordnance Battalion's Headquarters and Headquarters company located in Illesheim, Munich and later, Zirndorf, Germany. A terrific resource for information on the 71st Ordnance Battalion can be found at these websites:

8th Ordnance provided echelon maintenance support to the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment which was tasked with patrolling the southeast German border with Czechoslovakia. 8th Ordnance remained in southern Germany until 1964 when it was deactivated along with the 11th ACR in August of 1964 and is now stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Some from 8th Ordnance were transferred to the 22nd Ordnance Company in Munich and others to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment.
